The eighth LPG tanker bound for India -- Green Asha -- successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, shipbrokers told OPIS.

Vortexa data shows that the vessel is a midsize gas carrier of around 34,516 cubic meters, carrying around 20,000 metric tons of LPG. Sources said it loaded at Ruwais and is expected to arrive in Dahej on Wednesday.

This follows the successful transit of the Green Sanvi carrying 46,650 mt of LPG, according to a press release by India's Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas on Saturday. Although the release did not state a destination or arrival date, sources heard the Green Sanvi will likely arrive at Mumbai on Monday.

The Green Asha is the first MGC carrying LPG to cross the Strait of Hormuz since the start of the Middle East conflict, with previous LPG vessels all very large gas carriers. Besides the Green Sanvi, the other VLGCs are the Shivalik, Nanda Devi, Jag Vasant, Pine Gas, BW Tyr and BW Elm, all of which arrived in India in late March and early April.

VLGCs Sarv Shakti and MGC Jag Vikram remain in the Middle East Gulf awaiting safe transit through the strait.

Middle East exports to India were estimated at around 698,500 mt in March and 335,200 mt in April, according to Vortexa data. This is a sharp drop from the usual monthly exports of around 1.5 million mt to 2 million mt.
