Apple (AAPL) has agreed to source foldable smartphone OLED panels exclusively from Samsung Display for the next three years, The Elec reported Wednesday, citing industry officials.

Mass production of the foldable OLED panels for Apple is expected to begin in Q2, with initial shipments estimated at 3 million units this year, according to the report.

Apple accepted the exclusive arrangement due to the lack of alternatives that meet its requirements in durability, quality and yield, the report said.

Apple did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
