Barrick Mining (B) said Wednesday it welcomed a decision by the Ontario Court of Appeal dismissing a lawsuit by Tanzanians alleging human rights abuses by members of the country's security forces near its North Mara gold mine.
Barrick said the court ruling upheld an earlier ruling by the Superior Court of Ontario which rejected the case under jurisdictional grounds.
The company also said it submitted evidence showing the Tanzanian Police Force acts independently of Barrick.
Barrick Mining shares were more than 5% higher in premarket trading.
