Sakata Seed's (TYO:1377) profit attributable to owners of the parent climbed 11% to nearly 8.7 billion yen for the nine months ended Feb. 28 from 7.82 billion yen a year earlier.
The seed breeding and producer company's basic earnings per share increased to 202.58 yen from 178.65 yen a year ago, according to a Tokyo bourse filing on Tuesday.
Net sales rose 9.4% to 72.7 billion yen from 66.4 billion yen in the prior-year period.
For the fiscal year ending May 31, the company expects attributable profit of 10 billion yen, basic EPS of 231.22 yen, and net sales of 101 billion yen.
Sakata Seed plans to pay a year-end dividend of 40 yen, which is lower than the 45 yen in the year-ago period.
