Danone's Reported Move for Mead Johnson Has Merits -- Market Talk

Dow Jones04-08

1401 GMT - The potential acquisition of Mead Johnson by Danone might have strategic logic, analysts at Barclays say following French media reports that the food giant is weighing a potential purchase of Reckitt's infant formula business. The move could materially strengthen Danone's position in the U.S. and be complementary to its footprint in other regions globally, the analysts add in a note. However, investors tend to prefer bolt-on deals, such as Danone's acquisition of nutrition startup Huel, the analysts add. Reckitt shares are up 4.5% at 53.92 pounds. Danone shares are down 0.55% at 68.88 euros. (aimee.look@wsj.com)
