Israel said its 11th soldier had been killed in southern Lebanon since early March amid heavy fighting with Iran-affiliated Hezbollah militants. The soldier, identified as 21-year-old Guy Loder, an Israeli staff sergeant in the country's commando brigade, died Saturday, according to the Israeli army. Loder was killed in a friendly-fire incident, an Israeli military official said.
Israel is seeking to create a "security zone" in its northern border with Lebanon to prevent attacks on its territory. The conflict has killed more than 1,300 in Lebanon, according to Lebanon's Health Ministry, whose figure doesn't distinguish between civilians and combatants.
