BUZZ-Global chip sales jumped 62% in February, industry group says

** Global semiconductor sales rose 61.8% to $88.8 billion in February 2026 compared with a year earlier, according to The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA)

** Shares of chip firms Nvidia NVDA.O, Advanced Micro Devices AMD.O, Qualcomm QCOM.O and Broadcom AVGO.O were up between 0.2% and 0.8% in premarket trading while Intel INTC.O was up 1.2%

** Year-on-year chip sales in February rose 93.5% in Asia Pacific/All Other, 59.2% in the Americas, 57.4% in China and 42.3% in Europe, but declined 0.3% in Japan

** "Strong global demand is expected to persist during the remainder of the year, with annual sales projected to reach roughly $1 trillion globally,” said John Neuffer, SIA president and CEO
