Anthropic's Project Glasswing to Study New Model's Cybersecurity Implications -- Market Talk

Dow Jones04-08 23:29

11:29 ET - Anthropic launches Project Glasswing, a joint artificial-intelligence security effort involving leading tech companies and cybersecurity firms, among others. The partners will use the unreleased Claude Mythos Preview model in defensive cybersecurity work, and Anthropic will share findings on the model's cybersecurity implications within 90 days. Anthropic commits up to $100 million worth of model usage credits to participants in the project, and says it will donate $4 million to open-source security organizations. Anthropic underlines the "severe" implications of bad actors getting access to the model, which it says represents a leap forward in cyber capabilities. "Given the rate of AI progress, it will not be long before such capabilities proliferate, potentially beyond actors who are committed to deploying them safely," Anthropic says. "Project Glasswing is an urgent attempt to put these capabilities to work for defensive purposes." (elias.schisgall@wsj.com)
