Fed Policy Well Positioned, New York Fed President Says -- Market Talk

Dow Jones04-07

0905 ET - The Federal Reserve's interest-rate setting is well positioned to respond to the economic shock of the Iran war, New York Fed President John Williams says. "I just think monetary policy is exactly where it needs to be, and we can respond as the situation changes," Williams says in an interview with Bloomberg TV. He says that he expects the war to raise inflation temporarily. The labor market, he notes, has looked relatively stable, with unemployment moving in a small range since last year.
