Fujitsu (TYO:6702 ) has secured a 100 million yen contract from Japan's Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Agency to develop multi-AI "agents" that could act as digital staff officers for Japan's Self-Defense Forces, The Asahi Shimbun reported Monday.

The system aims to enable rapid decision-making, advanced intelligence analysis, and reduced workloads by coordinating multiple AI agents that can generate strategies and tactical actions via natural-language commands, according to the report.

Results are due by March 2028, the report said.

Fujitsu has also launched a defense tech accelerator to work with startups, with partner selection set for late June, to advance dual-use AI technologies.
