Energy storage services provider Beijing HyperStrong Technology (SHA:688411) expects its shipments this year to more than double to 70 gigawatt-hours from 26 GWh in the prior year, Bloomberg News reported Monday, citing the company's CEO Jianhui Zhang.
The executive told the media outlet in an interview last week that the expected deliveries include 60 GWh from the domestic market and 10 GWh from overseas, the report said.
Demand for energy-storage systems has grown globally, with China's energy-storage market accelerating over the past five years into the world's biggest energy storage market, said Bloomberg. The technology is used in the renewable power sector, including solar and wind, and artificial intelligence computing centers, the report said.
Zhang said AI computing centers will be the major driver of future demand, not only in China, where the government requires the use of green power for these centers, but also in Europe and North America, the report said.
