0420 GMT - BYD enjoys significantly stronger brand awareness among European consumers than other Chinese brands, Bernstein analysts write in a note. For Xiaomi, despite not yet selling EVs in Europe, it has achieved a high level of awareness, likely due to its strong position in the smartphone, Internet-of-Things and home-appliance markets, they say. That bodes well for its planned European expansion, set to start in 2027. Beyond these leaders, however, many Chinese brands have limited or minimal brand recognition, the analysts note. Still, the perception of Chinese vehicle quality is improving, as Chinese brands have expanded their sales networks and strengthened after-sales support, they add.
