Earnings Season Ramps Up: What to Watch in the Next Week -- WSJ

Goldman Sachs will kick off a week of earnings reports as investors watch for impacts from the Iran war and concerns about a potential private-credit meltdown. Netflix and Johnson & Johnson are also on deck to report. Meanwhile, traders will monitor March's producer-price index for further inflation signals and business and policy leaders will gather in the nation's capital for IMF-World Bank Week meetings that will include discussion of the latest Iran-U.S. cease-fire talks.

Monday, April 13

-- Earnings: Goldman Sachs, before the opening bell.

-- Economic data: Existing home sales for March are expected from the National Association of Realtors.

-- Events: The World Bank and International Monetary Fund will hold meetings in Washington through Saturday.

Tuesday, April 14

-- Earnings: JPMorgan Chase, Johnson & Johnson,, Wells Fargo, Citigroup, BlackRock

-- Economic data: The Bureau of Labor Statistics will release producer-price index data for March, following Friday's consumer price reading. The National Federation of Independent Business will release its small-business index.

-- Fed speeches: Fed governor Michael Barr is expected to speak on rural economic development at a forum in Washington at 12:45 p.m. Following his remarks, he'll be joined on a panel by Boston Fed president Susan Collins, Richmond Fed president Tom Barkin and Philadelphia Fed president Anna Paulson.

Wednesday, April 15

-- Economic data: Empire State manufacturing survey for April. The Labor Department will release data on U.S. import prices, and the National Association of Home Builders will report its builder confidence index for April. The Fed will publish its latest Beige Book report. The Energy Information Administration also releases its weekly report on petroleum.

-- Earnings: Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, PNC Financial

-- Fed speeches: Fed governor Barr will participate in a discussion on consumer compliance regulation at 8:30 a.m. Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle Bowman is scheduled to discuss banking regulation at 1:45 p.m.

Thursday, April 16

-- Economic data: Weekly jobless claims. The Philadelphia Fed will release its April manufacturing survey. The Fed will release data on industrial production and capacity utilization for March. The EIA will release its weekly report on natural gas storage.

-- Earnings: Netflix, PepsiCo, U.S. Bancorp, Abbott Laboratories, Charles Schwab

-- Fed speeches: New York Fed president John Williams will deliver a keynote speech at the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York's member symposium. Fed governor Miran is scheduled to appear at the Washington Economic Festival.

Friday, April 17

-- Earnings: State Street, Truist Financial, Fifth Third

-- Fed speeches: Richmond Fed president Tom Barkin is scheduled to speak before the 2026 Citadel Directors Institute at 12:15 p.m. At 2 p.m., Fed governor Christopher Waller will discuss his economic outlook in an appearance at Auburn University.
