Competitive Threats for Dutch Bros Seen as Overblown -- Market Talk

Dow Jones04-11

1443 ET [Dow Jones]--The market is overly worried that new launches from beverage chain giants could encroach on Dutch Bros' competitive perch, UBS analysts say in a note. The analysts say that energy beverages from McDonald's and Starbucks will target different customers, represent a different level of customization and provide an overall different experience. Additionally, the energy, coffee and other beverages category has enough runway to support more participants, the analysts say, noting Dutch Bros has not observed any headwind from a McDonald's energy drink test in Colorado. "We believe concerns are overblown and the overhang on shares could be lifted if BROS sales momentum continues through the competitor launches," they say. (kelly.cloonan@wsj.com)
