Amazon-backed (AMZN) Anthropic is exploring plans to design its own AI chips as it grapples with industry-wide shortages, Reuters reported Friday, citing sources.

The report said the effort remains in early stages with no final commitment yet.

Anthropic currently relies on chips from Amazon and Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google, including tensor processing units developed with Broadcom (AVGO), according to Reuters.

Anthropic did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
