0830 GMT - While macro uncertainty will likely remain elevated in the near term, Asian equities excluding Japan can still deliver modest returns by the end of this year, Nomura's Chetan Seth says in a note. The analyst notes that headline volatility may not disappear despite the cease-fire. He advises investors to maintain a balanced portfolio focused on resilience and valuation discipline, though medium-term investors may consider building positions opportunistically as valuations moderate and risk-reward appear favorable. Nomura maintains overweight ratings on Korean equities for their AI theme and earnings growth prospects, and on Chinese equities for solid tech advancements, resiliency to energy disruption and liquidity support. Sector-wise, the bank is overweight on semiconductors and AI-related fields. It stays underweight on traditional tech hardware, materials, energy and healthcare. (jason.chau@wsj.com)
