Market Chatter: Amazon-Backed Anthropic Plans Major London Expansion

MT Newswires Live04-16

Amazon (AMZN)-backed Anthropic said Thursday it plans to expand its presence in London with new office space capable of accommodating up to 800 employees, CNBC reported, citing a statement from EMEA North Head Pip White.

The developer of the Claude chatbot currently has more than 200 staff in London and said the new site in the city's Knowledge Quarter will support continued growth in research and commercial operations outside the US, according to the report.

The announcement follows previous media reports that UK officials have sought to attract deeper investment from Anthropic as global competition to host leading AI firms accelerates.

Anthropic did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
