Investors May Grow Less Sensitive to Daily Middle East Headlines -- Market Talk

Dow Jones04-13 16:53

0853 GMT - Investors may be growing less sensitive to daily Middle East headlines, according to Julius Baer's Christian Gattiker in a research note. "After weeks of geopolitical dominance, there is a fair chance that investors may cautiously return to a more 'normal' market regime--one centred on macroeconomic data and corporate fundamentals," the head of research says. In the U.S., producer price data, industrial production and the U.S. Fed's Beige Book will offer clues into inflation dynamics and underlying economic momentum. Investors will also closely watch for China's economic data, such as retail sales, and industrial output to assess the strength of its economy. (tracy.qu@wsj.com)
