Synopsys (SNPS) said Tuesday it is working with the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration and partners to support the development of the Artemis program through simulation of spacesuit performance and lunar communications systems.
Financial terms were not provided.
The company and Electro Magnetic Applications were selected to study electrical charging effects on spacesuits exposed to lunar conditions, using simulation software and testing to assess risks to onboard systems, Synopsys said.
The work includes evaluating materials and design configurations under simulated space environments, the company said.
Synopsys said it is also collaborating with Cesium, part of Bentley Systems (BSY), and NASA to model communication networks on the Moon, including analysis of antenna performance and signal coverage using digital simulations.
Shares of Synopsys and Bentley were up 2.4% and 2% respectively in early trading Tuesday.
