U.K. February GDP Data Unlikely to Impact BOE Rate Decisions -- Market Talk

Dow Jones04-16

1305 GMT - Above-forecast U.K. GDP data for February is unlikely to impact the Bank of England's interest-rate decisions, Goldman Sachs' James Moberly says in a note. Monthly GDP grew 0.5% in February, above the 0.2% consensus forecast by economists in a WSJ poll. The data show economic growth prior to the Middle East conflict, but the growth outlook has significantly changed since then, Moberly says. U.K. growth is expected to slow down in the coming months due to the effects of the Middle East war, he says. (miriam.mukuru@wsj.com)
