Celanese plans to raise prices for several of its engineered materials products due to supply-chain disruptions and other recent market developments.

The specialty materials and chemical company said Friday it would raise the price of some of its products sold under brands like Zytel, Frianyl, Celanyl, Minlon, CoolPoly and Ecomid in both the Americas and Asia. It also plans to hike prices in Asia for some of its polyethylene terephthalate products sold under the Rynite brand as well as some of its thermoplastic vulcanizates products from Santoprene.

The increases will take effect May 1, or as contracts otherwise allow. Individual grades may be subject to higher increases, the company said.

In particular, the company plans to raise the price of several of its non-flame retardant PA6 products, from brands like Zytel and Frianyl, by 30 cents per kilogram in Asia and by 9 cents per pound in the Americas.

Non-flame retardant and flame retardant PA66 products will be subject to price increases of 50 cents and 60 cents per kilogram, respectively, in Asia.

In Asia, the company also plans to raise the prices of non-flame retardant and flame retardant Rynite products by 20 cents and 50 cents per kilogram, respectively, as well as flame retardant Santoprene products by $1.50 per kilogram.
