Singapore Airlines' Earnings Outlook Clouded by Mideast Uncertainties -- Market Talk

Dow Jones04-20

0856 GMT - Singapore Airlines' earnings outlook for the current fiscal year is clouded by U.S.-Iran war uncertainties, says UOB Kay Hian analyst Roy Chen in a note. Sky-rocketing jet fuel prices will likely hit earnings for 1Q FY 2027, or the April-June period, Chen says. Still, SIA has a relatively high fuel hedging position, with over 41% of its projected fuel consumption for the quarter hedged before the war, helping it mitigate pressures, while the traffic spillover from Middle Eastern carriers plays to SIA's favor, Chen adds. UOB KH raises its 4Q FY 2026 earnings estimates due to exceptionally strong operating data from March. UOB KH retains a hold rating on the stock but cuts its target price to S$6.64 from S$7.18. Shares are flat at S$6.55. (kimberley.kao@wsj.com)
