SpaceX Says Space-Based Data Centers, Space Colonies May Not Be Viable

SpaceX has cautioned investors that its schemes to build space-based data centers and establish colonies on the moon and Mars depend on unattained technological advances and may ultimately prove unfeasible, Reuters reported late Tuesday, citing a company filing.

"Our initiatives to develop orbital AI compute and in-orbit, lunar, and interplanetary industrialization are in early stages, involve significant technical complexity and unproven technologies, and may not achieve commercial viability," SpaceX said in the filing ahead of its anticipated initial public offering, according to Reuters.

SpaceX did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
