Investors Raise BOE Rate Rise Expectations After Strong U.K. PMI Data -- Market Talk
Dow Jones18:51
1051 GMT - Investors price in a higher probability of the Bank of England raising interest rates in the coming months following above-forecast U.K. purchasing manager index data. U.K. composite PMI, which measures manufacturing and services activity, climbed to 52.0 in April from 50.3 in March. This was above the 49.9 consensus forecast by economists in a WSJ poll. Investors fully price in two quarter-point BOE interest-rate hikes in 2026 and a 40% chance of a third one by year-end, LSEG data show. Markets only fully priced in one BOE rate rise by year-end prior to the PMI data release. (miriam.mukuru@wsj.com)
