Fed chair nominee Kevin Warsh ducked a question from Sen. Raphael Warnock (D., Ga.) on what grade he would give the U.S. economy by criticizing overall grade inflation at higher education institutions.
Warsh told the Senate Banking Committee that if he gave a student anything other than an 'A' grade, the dean would summon him to his office for hurting the student's self-image. After Warsh's previous term as a Fed governor ended, he joined Stanford University's Hoover Institution.
Warsh tells Warnock that if the Fed were to execute policy reforms, the economy could be stronger, inflation could be lower and take home pay could be higher. Warsh also criticized the increased size of the balance sheet since his previous stint at the Fed.
