Southwest's Transformation is Taking Longer Than Expected -- Market Talk
Dow Jones04-24 01:43
1343 ET - Southwest Airlines' transformation initiatives are delivering results but at a bit of a slower pace than the market expected, UBS analysts say in a note. The carrier's 1Q revenue per available seat mile, and its 2Q guidance, were underwhelming compared to estimates, but the company's cost performance in the latest quarter topped expectations, the analysts say. They note that Wall Street was likely looking for Southwest to have a stronger lead in quarterly revenue growth over competitors like Delta and United given it has several transformation strategies in place.
