Snacks and drink maker Nestlé says it can handle supply chain disruptions and higher costs for fuel and food ingredients from the war in Iran.

During a call with analysts following first-quarter sales, executives said today that much in Nestlé's portfolio of snacking and cupboard staples is made locally, although they acknowledged that there had been some disruptions from raw materials and fuel not making it through the Strait of Hormuz or other logistical snarls stemming from the war in the Middle East.

"Look, this is something we're good at," said CFO Anna Manz. "The combination of our scale and the fact that we largely manufacture locally means that when there is global supply-chain disruption, normally Nestlé gains share because we are more able to navigate that environment than others."

Nestlé said higher fuel prices can keep squeezed consumers at home more for meals, a sweet spot for the company.
