A senior military adviser to Iran's supreme leader questioned the U.S.'s ability to block the country's oil exports. "No country is capable of blocking Iran's oil exports," Mohsen Rezaei wrote Monday on social media. "The President of the United States is advised to focus on organizing the chaos prevailing over the U.S. government, economy, and armed forces, instead of engaging in empty boasting."
Late last week, U.S. Central Command said American forces had redirected 30 vessels as part of the blockage. Iran is dependent on oil exports for the majority of its revenue, and so much crude oil is building up inside the country that storage options are nearly all full, prompting Iran to try more extreme ways to get its oil to market, including sending it by rail to China.
