Newmont's (ASX:NEM) shares soared over 6% in recent trading on Monday, while those of Evolution Mining (ASX:EVN) gained over 1%, as gold prices recovered losses.
Spot gold recovered to $4,707.75 per ounce, after falling 0.8% earlier in the session. The precious metal declined 2.5% in the previous week.
Shares of Northern Star Resources (ASX:NST) were almost flat.
