Washington Hilton Was Scene of Attempted Reagan Assassination -- WSJ

The Washington Hilton was the scene of the attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan in 1981, who was shot and wounded by John Hinckley Jr. outside an entrance to the building after a speaking engagement at the hotel. That same entrance was used today for attendees lining up for the red carpet and others entering the White House Correspondents' Dinner event. The incident Saturday night was deeper into the hotel, inside the security perimeter but outside the large auditorium where President Trump sat at the head table.
