Electrolux's Strategy Looks Encouraging -- Market Talk

Dow Jones04-28

0856 GMT - Electrolux's strategy seems encouraging as the company faces high competition and subdued demand, Citi's Martin Wilkie and Avinash Mundhra say. The Swedish home-appliance manufacturer is implementing cost-efficiency measures. It has also entered into agreements with China's Midea Group to support performance in North America and said it would launch a 9 billion kronor rights issue. "We ultimately see the plan as value enhancing," the analysts write in a note. "Electrolux will get access to a cost base with scale that it has never achieved (nor could hope to achieve) as standalone company," they add. The stock is down 1%. (andrea.figueras@wsj.com)
