Quebecor Is Borrowing T-Mobile's Playbook, and It's Working in Canada -- Market Talk

Dow Jones04-25 01:23

1322 ET - Quebecor, the newest player on the Canadian telecom scene, is poised to grow its wireless segment at a faster clip than the incumbents thanks to a similar playbook as T-Mobile, says CIBC's Stephanie Price. She forecasts "7.6% 2026 wireless service revenue growth at Quebecor versus an average of 0.4% growth in the Big 3," Telus, Rogers and BCE. Price chalks it up to a strategy that is similar to T-Mobile in the U.S. "which included lower-priced, contract-free and unlimited data plan offerings that drove subscriber gains but compressed average revenue per unit." The analyst thinks it will only get better from here for Quebecor as it "continues to roll out its network improvements in a measured way." (adriano.marchese@wsj.com)
