Importance of Fed Decisions for Fixed Income Seen as Diminishing -- Market Talk

Dow Jones01:39

1338 ET - Markets focus on tomorrow's Fed decision, but the announcement has lost relevance for fixed-income markets, Ducenta Squared's David Kang says. An increased supply of sovereign debt, corporate bonds and consumer debt securities has shifted the focus toward fundamental supply and demand metrics. "Given that there's such a huge diverse allocation of bonds for us, as fixed-income managers, to manage…the game has changed a little bit," he says. Corporations use technology to beef-up their balance sheets, leading to investment changes. "We are reassessing the overall yields," from sovereign bonds, corporates and consumer debt, he says.
