Meta Platforms (META) saw a US Commerce Department agency close an investigation into allegations it can access encrypted WhatsApp messages, Bloomberg News reported Tuesday, citing two people familiar with the matter.
A department investigator told other federal officials earlier this year that, after a 10-month probe, he had concluded Meta stores and can view WhatsApp messages, the report said.
Meta has strongly denied the allegations, saying WhatsApp's architecture secures encrypted conversations, the report said.
Meta and the Commerce Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
