Shares of Cerus climbed to a 52-week high after the biotechnology company posted double-digit revenue growth in its first quarter.
The stock gained 26%, to $2.57, midday Friday after reaching a high of $3.15 earlier in the session. It has risen about 25% since the beginning of the year.
The Concord, Calif., company on Thursday posted a net loss of $1.6 million, or 1 cent a share, compared with a loss of $7.7 million, or 4 cents a share, a year earlier. Analysts polled by FactSet expected a loss of 4 cents a share.
Net revenue increased 23% year over year, to $59.9 million. The increase was largely driven by growth in product revenue, which was up 24%, to $53.7 million. Analysts were expecting net revenue of $55.7 million.
