Carnival has received shareholder approval to merge its New York and London listings, clearing the final major hurdle to forming a single unified company domiciled in Bermuda.

Shareholders backed the collapse of the cruise operator's dual-listed structure and approved the redomiciliation ofCarnival to Bermuda from Panama, the company said Friday.

Carnival said the U.K. Court has now sanctioned the scheme of arrangement that will formally implement the unification, which will become effective once the court order is filed with the U.K. Registrar of Companies, which is expected May 7.
