Shell Surprises with Dividend Raise -- Market Talk

Dow Jones05-07

0805 GMT - Shell's 5% increase to its dividend was unexpected, Barclays analyst Lydia Rainforth writes. The higher dividend of $0.3906 a share is, however, more than offset in cash terms by the buyback cut, she adds. Shell said it would buy $3 billion of shares compared to $3.5 billion in prior quarters. Shell's shares fall 2.3% to 3,138.5 pence. (adam.whittaker@wsj.com)
