Beyond Meat's Woes Continue As Consumers Grow Skeptical on Meat Alternatives -- Market Talk

Dow Jones05-08

1310 ET - BTIG doesn't expect Beyond Meat's retail sales will turn around anytime soon. The plant-based meat substitutes company reported a 15% slide in 1Q revenue, and consumers have become increasingly skeptical towards plant-based protein, analysts Peter Saleh and Ben Parente say. Beyond is also trying to boost sales through a new protein drink called Beyond Immerse, but the analysts aren't convinced: "The market is very crowded, Beyond has no authority or awareness in beverages, and recent product extensions (jerky) haven't worked with consumers," they say. Beyond Meat sinks 15%. (chris.kuo@wsj.com)
