European Stocks Largely Nudge Higher at Open -- Market Talk

0722 GMT - European stock indexes largely gain at market open in cautious early trade as markets await the Iranian response to a U.S. peace offer. The Europe-wide Stoxx 600 index nudges 0.2% higher. Germany's DAX is 0.3% higher as autos gain. A handful of industrials in the index slide, including a 2.6% drop for Rheinmetall after earnings. In Paris, the CAC 40 is up 0.4% as luxury stocks that dominate the index extend Wednesday's rally, with sector bellwether LVMH up 2.5%. London's FTSE 100 slips 0.3%, dragged by oil major Shell, which falls 2.3% after posting earnings. The Italian FTSE MIB and Spanish IBEX 35 both gain 0.1%. The Dutch AEX is 0.2% lower as software stocks slip, though semiconductor stocks gain. (josephmichael.stonor@wsj.com)
