BCE Turns to US For Expansion -- Market Talk

Dow Jones05-08

1233 ET - As the Canadian telecommunications space becomes saturated with competitors vying for a smaller pool of customers, BCE is looking to U.S. expansion to help its earnings. CFO Curtis Millen says on an analyst call that its internet service provider Ziply is on track to expand its network to about 3 million homes and businesses by the end of 2028. BCE is also investing plenty to develop the U.S. side, with total capital expenditures up 15.4% reflecting the Ziply Fiber build out. The investments appear to be paying off. "Where we have fiber, we continue to win our share," Millen says. (adriano.marchese@wsj.com)
