Fed's Goolsbee: Services Inflation Is Too High for Comfort -- Market Talk

Dow Jones05-08 23:57

1157 ET - Chicago Fed President Austan Goolsbee said in a CNBC TV interview that the Fed would be in a bit of a "pickle" if everyone presumes inflation rates will return to what they were a few years ago. "We stopped making progress last year, and now in the last three months, it's going up instead of down," he said. Goolsbee said the most concerning part is that services inflation has been higher than is comfortable, excluding the effects of tariffs and higher oil prices from the war in Iran.
