U.S. Natural Gas Futures Gain As Weather Warms -- Market Talk

Dow Jones05-11

0928 ET - U.S. natural gas futures are higher with the market looking to hotter summer weather to drive power-sector demand as air conditioning use increases. While the northern U.S. will soon see "perfect highs of 60s to lower 80s for below-normal heating degree days," the southern U.S. "will be getting rather hot and with highs of 90s gaining in coverage, including locally 100s," NatGasWeather.com says in a note. That could be viewed as bullish for natural gas prices, suggesting early season heat will soon impact much of the U.S., the forecaster adds. Nymex natural gas is up 3.3% at $2.848/mmBtu.(anthony.harrup@wsj.com)
