Market Chatter: Disney's ABC Victim of Censorship, FCC Commissioner Says

MT Newswires Live05-11

Walt Disney's (DIS) ABC network has been a victim of "sustained, coordinated" censorship by the Trump administration, Federal Communications Commissioner Anna Gomez said in a letter to Disney chief executive Josh D'Amaro, The Wall Street Journal reported.

In the letter, viewed by The Journal, Gomez said FCC Chairman Brendan Carr has weaponized the agency to pressure "a free and independent press and all media into submission," alleging that Carr is pressuring broadcasters for political purposes, the report said.

The letter by Gomez, the only Democratic commissioner, follows several FCC investigations into Disney and ABC, including whether the talk show "The View" should continue to receive certain exemptions as a news program, according to the report.

Disney did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
