Frontier Airlines Runway Incident Reportedly Prompts NTSB Review of Emergency Evacuation

Frontier Airlines (ULCC) said a passenger jet struck and killed a trespasser on a runway during takeoff at Denver International Airport late Friday, citing to Reuters and other media reports on Sunday.

Airport officials said a person breached the perimeter fence and was struck by a Los Angeles-bound Frontier Airlines Airbus A321 carrying 224 passengers and seven crew members, forcing an aborted takeoff and passenger evacuation after a brief engine fire and cabin smoke.

According to Reuters and The Guardian, the National Transportation Safety Board is reviewing the emergency evacuation to determine whether a formal safety investigation is needed.

Frontier Airlines did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
