Market Chatter: OpenAI Poised for $97 Billion in Savings Through 2030 in Revised Microsoft Deal

OpenAI is projected to save around $97 billion through 2030 following a revised revenue-sharing agreement with early backer Microsoft (MSFT), The Information reported late Monday, citing a person with knowledge of the arrangement.

Under the previous arrangement, the ChatGPT maker was expected to pay Microsoft 20% of its revenue, potentially totaling up to $135 billion, if certain long-term targets were met, according to the report.

However, the companies agreed to cap the total payments at $38 billion, the unnamed source told The Information. If OpenAI hits its lofty revenue targets, it would likely hit that cap sometime in 2028, according to the report.

OpenAI and Microsoft didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
