United Airlines' flight attendants have ratified a union contract that raises their wages by 31% on average this summer.
The United chapter of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA said the contract, ratified by 82% of the vote, will provide $741 million in retroactive pay and also gives the airline's 30,000 flight attendants pay for time spent preparing the cabin, adding 7% to 8% to their compensation.
"The contract will immediately change the lives of United Flight Attendants, especially our thousands of new hires who have been hired since the pandemic," AFA United President Ken Diaz said.
The contract runs for five years and provides expanded job security, restrictions on red-eye flying and other benefits.
