Chinese leader Xi Jinping told a delegation of American executives traveling with President Trump in Beijing that China will open wider to foreign business.

"U.S. companies are deeply involved in China's reform and opening up, and both sides have benefited from this," said Xi after Trump introduced the entrepreneurs to him one by one, according to Chinese state media.

Elon Musk was seen at the summit venue with his 6-year-old son and Tom Zhu, a senior vice-president of Tesla who oversees the carmaker's operations in China. Musk said on X that his son is learning Mandarin.

Executives from some companies were expected to seek to clear regulatory hurdles or mend frayed relations. Tesla has been seeking a green light from Beijing to roll out its advanced driver-assistance system, while Nvidia is awaiting final clearance to sell its H200 chips to Chinese customers. Facebook parent Meta Platforms was recently ordered by Beijing to scrap its acquisition of artificial-intelligence startup Manus.
