Netflix Expands Its Ad Tier Monthly Viewers -- Market Talk

Dow Jones05-15

1600 ET - Netflix's success in convincing consumers to sign up for its ad-supported subscription tier means it is on track to become the largest longform ad-supported video platform by revenue, analysts from TD Cowen say. During a recent presentation to advertisers, Netflix said that its ad-supported subscription tier -- which costs U.S. consumers $8.99 a month -- now reaches more than 250 million global monthly active users, up from 190 million in November 2025. The ad tier is yielding more than half of new member sign-ups, and the company expects about 25% of 2026 incremental revenue will come from this tier, analysts say. The company plans to bring the ad tier to multiple new markets in 2027, including Austria, Belgium, Colombia, Indonesia and Thailand. (chris.kuo@wsj.com)
