Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI and Amazon.com-backed (AMZN) Anthropic are increasing the revenue gap between themselves and the rest of the artificial intelligence startup field, The Information reported Sunday, citing its Generative AI Database.
A group of 34 leading startups in that sector is generating annualized revenue of approximately $80 billion, or $6.6 billion a month, from selling AI applications or access to the models for such apps, the report said.
OpenAI and Anthropic are now capturing roughly 89% of that figure, which is 4.5 percentage points higher than the share of sales the two firms had in the same group six months ago, according to the report.
Anthropic and OpenAI didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
