Ingenia Communities Group (ASX:INA) entered into an enforceable undertaking with Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV), after units in its Ingenia Gardens rental communities in Victoria were not supplied with cooking facilities from March 2021 to May 2026, according to a Monday Australian bourse filing.
The company said residents who lived in units without cooktops will be paid AU$15.89 per week of occupation as compensation, plus a lump sum of AU$50 in recognition of the frustration and denial of their rights, with total compensation not expected to surpass AU$1.5 million, the filing added.
Ingenia has also agreed to pay AU$100,000 to the Housing for the Aged Action Group and AU$1 million to the Victorian Consumer Law Fund, the filing said.
The company said it has completed a remediation program by providing cooktops to all impacted properties, working closely with residents to ensure safety and efficiency, per the filing.
The company's shares fell 1% in recent Monday trade.
